Street Beat

A unique, quirky, original guide to enjoying the home of the Original Street Art Fair: Ann Arbor! Street Beat is current as of spring 2007 and in its print version was intended to serve us for two years.  Still, some things have changed in this dynamic city, so make sure you double check as you make your plans. You may download Street Beat in its entirety, or if you are interested in a particular section of the guide, you may download for print Ann Arbor History, Fair Information, and Shops & Eateries individually for your convenience.  All are downloadable as PDF files.

Things to Remember for a Safe and Comfortable Art Fair Experience

  • Drink plenty of water
  • Eat light meals
  • Bring a light raincoat
  • Leave umbrellas at home (to avoid accidentally hurting others in the crowds)
  • Wear light colored, lightweight, loose clothing and comfortable shoes.
  • Leave dogs and small children at home (there's even less fresh air down where they are!)
  • Wear plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
  • Keep yourself from overheating and getting overly tired-shuttles are available to take fairgoers back and forth to offsite parking lots and the AATA Link bus will be available to take you around the fairs
  • If you experience heavy sweating, clammy skin, nausea or vomiting, seek medical attention right away.

Local public safety agencies that will provide services during the four days of the art fairs include:

American Red Cross - Washtenaw Chapter
Ann Arbor Dept. of Emergency Management
Ann Arbor Fire Dept.
Ann Arbor Police Dept.
Huron Valley Ambulance
University of Michigan Dept. of Public Safety
Washtenaw County Emergency Management and Homeland Security

For emergencies, always call 911 in Washtenaw County.
